Travels | Journey to the North (Ilocos Sur + Ilocos Norte)

We wanted to experience something new… So we decided to travel to the Northern part of the Philippines by CAR. Yes by CAR. Half a day was spent just on the road – how amazing! 😉 I was asleep most of the time so I didn’t really feel the loooong drive. hahaha.

So we left Manila around 7:00am and arrived Vigan around 8:00pm… I blame all the road repairs for the delay!

We checked in at Vigan Plaza Hotel (you may check out some photos of their facilities below). Our hotel is just a few steps away from the famous Calle Crisologo.

Our itinerary:

Day 1 (Night): Tour Calle Crisologo

Day 2: Tour Ilocos Norte (We left our hotel at 7:00am)

Our first stop was at Bangui to see the windmills (5 hour drive from Vigan) We decided to prioritize the farthest place then we went to visit the other places on our way back to Vigan. So from Bangui we went to Cape Bojeador (Light House) then to Batac to visit President Marcos’ Mausoleum then to Paoay to visit the famous Paoay Church then back to Vigan. We arrived Vigan just in time for Dinner. We had dinner at Cafe Uno (Grandpa’s Inn) they serve really good food.

Day 3: Tour Vigan & Go home 😦 waaah! Back to reality! hehehe

I woke up early and toured Calle Crisologo – AGAIN 🙂 This time in the morning. I wanted to see what it was like with all the stores closed. No people, no obstruction. hahaha. The place looked so peaceful.

So after checking out we went to ruby pottery… The manong making the pot reminded me of the movie Ghost… hahaha!  Our last stop was Baluarte – Chavit Singson’s Zoo. There we saw his tiger, ponies, deer and his fake dinosaurs hahaha! The place was pretty amazing. 🙂

So after Baluarte we headed home already… Vacation mode OFF. Best road trip ever!
